November 4, 2017 Symposium to Focus on Technology Impact on Supply Chain
CLAREMONT, CA – October 25, 2017 APICS Inland Empire Chapter (APICS-IE), the leading association for supply chain and operations professionals, announces the addition of Thomas Jelenic, Vice President of Pacific Merchant Shipping Association to its Expert Panel that will discuss their experiences in “Leveraging Technologies for Supply Chain Success”.
“Whether importing finished goods or manufacturing and/or assembling parts locally, technologies are evolving to make the supply chain more efficient” notes Lisa Anderson, APICS-IE Chapter Leader and President of LMA Consulting Group. From autonomous forklifts to identifying the contents of a specific shipping container, technology is improving the efficiencies and information along the supply chain. “The advances are making information more accessible and suppliers more efficient. Yet, sometimes the information becomes overwhelming. We are looking forward to a good discussion and hearing first-hand experiences about using technology to leverage the supply chain” she concluded.
Mr. Jelenic will join panelists:Terrie Dean, Director, ISCM Compliance Technology at The Walt Disney Company, Craig Young, Vice President of Operations at Tropicale Foods, Inc. and Prof Stephen Ritchie, Professor, Civil Engineering, University of California, Irvine
The symposium attracts supply chain professionals from various aspects of the supply chain: systems, process, procurement, production and others. Platinum sponsor, Reveel, addresses the transportation aspect of the supply chain. “Once the goods are ready, it’s all about getting them to the right place at the right time. With today’s complex and congested road, rail and sky ways, it takes intelligence and analytics to do it efficiently” commented Vice President, Keith Durna. Transportation has become more than simply getting goods from point A to point B. “The need for intelligence to drive analytics has led to the transparency that leveled the transportation playing field. This has been a great benefit in addressing customer requirements for just in time supply” he said.
The APICS-IE Fall Symposium: “Leveraging Technologies for Supply Chain Success” will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 8:00-11:30 AM at the Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona. Fees to attend are $15 for members, $25 for non-members and students are free. A breakfast buffet is included.
